(Note, of course, the significant differences between a UK undergrad degree and one in the US; where we encourage specialisation at 18-19 and a commitment to a single course of study, US higher ed is far more about combining smaller elements over time, with flexibility to change direction, focus on multiple subjects, take breaks in study, etc.)</blockquote>
