I just looked again at the DoD boosters I bought this weekend and, I have to say, I still stand by my premise that MANY of these figs look much better than the gallery or con photos that we've seen. First, many people posting negative reviews have also stated that they've never been a fan or rarely bought boosters since the original Harbinger set. Simply put, these minis are not for everybody. I'm considered by many locally to be 'very good' minis painter, so believe me, I cringe when I see these slop-fest paint jobs... or minis that have two colors and no shading. BUT... they're about what I expect and most of them are passable. This set is really like the other's I've bought... hit and miss. On some, the sculpts are fantastic, but the paints suck. On a few, the paint is decent, but the sculpts are boring. Then, on both sides, there are a few minis that either suck or rock on both criteria. Just looking now at the Dwarf Warlord... Damn good sculpt. The paint isn't horrible... but why does he have dark-gray skin? Still, the gallery photo doesn't do this mini justice. Let's be honest: in a front-view, 2D photograph, the PAINT makes the mini. Hold that same mini in your hand and you'll see that it's not half bad... For a pre-painted, mass production, plastic mini :)
