Complete Mage Errata up

For all of my complaining about the Rules Compendium and other errata issues, I have to give WotC a good number of points to actually releasing errata. Unfortunately, I don't own Complete Mage, so I can't comment on the specifics of this one too much.

The Alacritous Cogitation one was important :)

Class Features [Deletion]
Under the abjurant armor ability, remove mention of “mage armor” at the end of the paragraph. The abjurant armor ability does not affect mage armor, but the spell is still useful to an abjurant champion.
Feel the Burn! :]

Suckage. I just gave an NPC wizard in my game Abjurant Champion levels based in large part on his ability to maintain a decent armor class using this.

Ah well. My players never read the errata... :)

The Master Specialist Expanded Spellbook nerf sucks, but it's not a surprise. WotC doesn't like allowing casters to take spells from other lists except in pretty narrow circumstances.

The errata is not needed to tell you that mage armor does not work with the Abj. Champ's ability. When a rule, example or descriptive text disagree, the text of the rule takes precedent over all others. This errata was not really needed, it was more of a favor for those who had to deal with people who complain “But the class SAYS it works!” and the ever present ”Then what good is it?”.

Yeah. You know until today I just assumed that Mage Armor was an abjuration spell. Go figure.

On the other hand, Shield (enhanced) and Protection From Evil as Swift actions is pretty sweet.

If he's not evil, give him luminous armor from BoED.

Yep, that's the spell to use. Of course, you give up even the slightest chance of using stealth, but if it's the right character that's not too big a deal.
