You should check the DNS settings and make sure that they are what your ISP needs them to be (99% of the times, "obtain DNS automatically"). DNS settings can be found in the TCP/IP properties, which can be found by rummaging in the properties of your connection.   If you do get a numerical IP address and still you can't browse www.google.com, you've got some weird problem. Try to telnet the address on port 80: open a prompt and run "telnet www.google.com 80". If the window goes black with just a blinking cursor on the top left, your browser is screwed somehow but the network is working. If you get an error message instead, your browser is probably OK and there is a network problem.    Anyway, after you've cleared up spyware and viruses, I suggest you phone the ISP's tech support. They are there for a reason.</blockquote>
