I ordered mine from Amazon which means I'll get it sometime in August... ;) AFAIK, it was released on the 25th - anyone grab it yet? If so, then spill yer guts!

I've checked my two main game suppliers (one near home, one near work) and neither had copies yet. I'm gonna try again Tuesday ("new shipment day" for both) and if there are no copies it's gonna be online ordering time for me.

If you wanna read thoughts from people who already have the book I suggest looking on the Mongoose Publishing forums. Here's where to look in general:

And here's where to look in specific:

Thanks, Zero. There's some Skelos discussion over on the Mongoose forums, but not as much as ai thought there would be. I guess the book hasn't hit a wide enough release yet...

My FLGS says they'll have it Wednesday...

The game store near my work got four copies today.
I went there after work and there were three copies left.

Great. That's what I get for ordering through Amazon.

And I'm still waiting... and waiting...

I bought my copy today. After a couple quick look-throughs (one at the store) and reading a few chapters at home, I must say it seems like a very good value, though the art is pretty much mediocre at best. The new spells seem very good if not as numerous as I expected, and there is a lot of neat stuff: magic and mundane items, monsters (including how wizards can create their own monsters), demons, NPCs and a couple of new templates (Salome, Child of Jhebbal Sag). Overall, a nice book and welcome expansion to Conan.

Hmm. I'm curious - Salome is a template?? How do they explain that? In A Witch Shall be Born she would be what equates to a basic Conan RPG Scholar... studied in Khitai, bound a demon or two,
tries to usurp her twin sister's kingdom...
y'know run of the mill sorcerer stuff. ;)

What's different about her write-up that justifies a template? All you need for Salome is a red crescent moon birthmark on your chest and a bad attitude. ;)

The template allows you to create a feeling of destiny for the character it is bestowed upon, and gives you some RP insight, as well as some exrta powers and weaknesses... The template, while specifically for a Khaurani princess, can easily be extrapolated to include any predestined evil witch/spawn of any demon lord. I liked the template, but then I like bad girls. :o

The Salome template changes your type to Outsider, gives you low light vision, changes your favoured class to Scholar, gives +1 to magic attack rolls with Curses, gives +1 BPP, Fate Points -2, Must experience a new pleasure every week or sufer -1 BPP until experienced, +2 Cha, +2 Con, -2 Int, -2 Wis, Corruption +2.

Conan forces you to spend a feat on anything that makes you something more than human and the feats allow you to place a template on your character. There is also now a Noble feat (taken at 1st level only) that gives you one feature (Title) of the Noble class, for those who wish to be nobles but not take levels in the class (most useful for Scholars who take it in the shorts if they multiclass just like their D&D counterparts). If you later on take levels in the Noble class, you get a bonus feat (Skill Focus: Knowledge: Nobility) to cover you for already "buying" a aspect of the Noble class. I am in favor of these "destiny" type feats at 1st level only, as they provide all the mechanics for you, with appropriate stengths and weaknesses that are PAID for by GM approval and a concrete cost to be "special" (a feat).
