CONAN - What's special?

Hello there!

I've searched some info about the Conan RPG and I just wondered what sets it apart from other settings. What are the main differences (rulewise, stylewise, etc.) to, lets say 3rd Ed DandD? I know a little bit about the setting, but how did it play out for you?
Clearly a pros and cons threat.

Thank you in advance!

Well have a look at the reviews section of ENWorld where I and several others have posted reviews.

In summary:
Classes are changed greatly as there is one spellcasting class and lots of combat based classes, matching the setting.

Combat:
  • AC is not created by armour, armour gives Damage Reduction.
  • Characters can Dodge or Parry a blow
Magic:
  • Power Points rather than spell slots.
  • Magic is dangerous to the caster and unusual.
  • Healing magic is pretty much unknown so combat can be lethal

Hmm well I wasn't aware of a review section.
Thanks for the info!
Nevertheless accounts of gaming experience apart from reviews would be great!

The Mongoose boards have some good "actual play" threads as do the boards at RPG.net. The threads are quite old in both cases but Google is your friend.
