(for the record the origin of 3 PCs I have personally played...although one was superpowered and that background was a joke) I would take either fighter or rogue (or thief) level 1 and a short sword (machete) or trident (my pitch fork)(or both) and leather armor, a bed roll and a half a dozen random little things... and I would try not to get into life or death struggles... but I might also play Charlamage, or Aragorn, or Michael Weston (I used to be an assassin)... depending on what strike my fancy and fits the world...   I take it you never played 2e dungeon mag adventures, or keep on the boarder lands... both have mult factions that would kill each other way too close to one another for no reason...so if I roll random treasure, and it comes out 1000gp, and I have 4 players and just say "You each get 250gp." that is a treasure parcel?!?!?! if so then I've been giving out treasure parcels since 2e.what would you make of a DM (in this case using a hybrid at the end of 2e with skills and power and such) that rolled infront of the players random loot, then punched it into his texas instrument as he went and divided by number of players and gave the gp and sp value so we didn't have to divide it, is that a parcel? or because we saw him do it random does that not count?</blockquote>
