The similarity of names doesn't matter - if you think of them as "Shadowdancer HiPS" and "Scout HiPS" then it's obvious. Just like "Cleave" and "Great Cleave" - similar but not the same; use whichever one works.The Scout is a base class in Complete Adventurer. A scout's Hide in Plain Sight ability lets him use the Hide skill even when someone is observing him. However this only works in natural terrain and when wearing light (or no) armor and carrying a light load.
