I read the above thread and I really do like the tiles idea. I just can't make it work in practice. I don't have much time to prep and sometimes I run on the fly or I run adventures where I'm just a page ahead of the players.
And I love my battle mat. I must confess to loving ink stains on my fingers after a good game.
So I started to go through my tiles for things to add to my matt. Trees, columns, furniture, debris, terrain and 3d effects on my hand drawn maps.
But the 3d stuff isn't really that portable, or I don't have time to build much of it on the fly. I want something along the lines of those constructable card games like Pirates. Is there anything like this? Foam or card stock or cardboard?
I want something I can put on the matt that is 3d and looks kinda cool, but I can fold up or put away into a file folder and stick in my bag. Something I can stick together quickly. Stuff to enhance my matt.
Anybody planning something like this? If not, do you like the idea?
