Pedro Mondragon Episode I “My name is Pedro Mondragon. You killed my hatchfather. Prepare to die, gnome.” Pedro grew up among a clutch of his fellows living a normal kobold existence torturing small animals, playing with little toy traps, and practicing mean tricks on his fellows and their servants. Like many of his camp, Pedro even learned the language of their captured woodland slaves. This idyllic home life was shattered by the coming of the gnomes. Illusions covered their sudden assault. There was much chaos and confusion as the band of hardy gnomes came into the lair, killing kobolds left and right and taking their stuff, weapons, treasure, and even freeing the slaves. Pedro managed to climb into a murder hole to hide and witnessed the whole scene of wanton slaughter and looting. When it was over he overheard the joyful laughing gnomes amid their jokes and celebration. One of them, a bard, composed a victory ballad on the spot, recounting each of the band’s heroic individual deeds of prowess. Pedro listened and committed the song to heart, each verse identifying another one of the slayers. That song haunted young Pedro and he swore an oath of vengeance that day. He trained under the best kobold blade-masters learning the art of Krichucal, kobold fencing. Once he had learned the secret maneuvers for drawing opponents into opening their guards, Pedro left to scour the surface-lands by night attempting to find any signs of the infamous gnomes, the bard’s song endlessly playing inside his head. Unfortunately, despite a dynamic personality, Pedro has few skills for dealing with surface races and his hunt has been unsuccessful so far.
