Contingency Spells

Bear with me, 'coz I haven't got my books here at work with me.

Am I right in thinking that a Contingency Spell with the definition of (for instance) "Cast Haste on me when I say 'antipasto'" would be a valid use of a the spell?

And therefore could it be used to become the 4th spell in a round what with quickened spells and 2 spells from a hasted round?

If so (and without reading the rules I can't see why not), can I just say "ow"...

You could also, have it cast a spell when you cast your last spell for the round

That is a perfectly legal way to get four spells off in a round.

OK. So with Haste already up, I could cast a Fireball, another Fireball, a Quickened Fireball, and then with the Tome and Blood Greater Contingency spell I could have it cast three Fireballs at the target of my Quickened Fireball.

Ow. Again I say Ow. So the proverbial 16th level character, with no magic items at all, has just done 96D6 Fire damage?

336 (average) damage in one round? Blimey.

Someone hand me that Ancient Wyrm White Dragon, will you?

Except that Chain Contingency works the same as the regular one... ie. personel spells only... but up to 3 at once (haste, fly, stone skin, etc.), so it couldn't be used to launch fireballs.
