In a campaign I play in every wednesday and have been playing for three years, I now have a small dilemma. The campaign: Our characters have been slected to recover the pieces of a shattered orb. When assembled the orb will bring balance between good and evil in the world once again. The rules: Each person has taken a section of the continent to be the home land of their character. When it is the person's turn to run their character becomes disposed of and the party continues the adventure that person has set-up. The adventure doesn't have to be about retrieving a piece of the shattered world either. My character: Lives in a land where people are born with ease of magic use in their blood. The more a person learns to use this ability the more they are tempted to do evil. The land next to mine consists of people who are paranoid of magic and will burn those at the stake who are found to use magic in anyway. The paladin of our group comes from this land. In order to create more fear, a large group of demons has taken over my area. They have led people into a war, they call the "mage war", with the paladin's home region. My character is a rogue (Thief-Acrobat) and has been tortured into service for the demons. She escaped after serving them for awhile and fled to a nearby town to hide. In the town a thieve's guild picked her up and trained her to survive. They stayed ahead of raiding demon armies that would come in and brain wash the towns people and then use them in the next town raid. She killed many of her own freinds and poeple she knew in the attacks. One day fed up from fighting a losing battle she took up the deal that she would join the adventuring party in searching for the shards. (The plot thickens) She takes a liking to the paladin of St. Cuthbert and over time she truthfully tells him of her past and wants to change her ways. She also truthfully tells him of the love she holds for him if he wants it. His response is that she's not of his religion so nothing could become of them. She studies and becomes a cleric of St. Cuthbert. That's where we are currently and our groups levels range in the 18's and 19's. We met St. Cuthbert and he told my character that she needs to perform a task, to deal retribution to the demons that have dealt her so much pain and killed so many of her people. In the adventure I'm going to run the party is to help her complete the task, but I need a good way to get her out of the group and still helpful in the final goal. More background... A prophecy the demons uncovered long ago (I still need to flesh this part out) the one who could stop them is known as the one who's scars don't heal. When the group met my character she had a scar running from her forhead to her cheek, the result of torture. Fight or lose your face was the deal offered. In one adventure she got killed by a beholder's death ray and was true-ressed. No one has been close enough to her to really notice the faint line showing tha the scar isn't completely gone. Or the bump she has on her shoulder where it was once dislocated. When she was young her father had a visit from a demon who had come to get her, probably to be killed. Her father made a deal with the demon that kept my charater alive. Her father now works for the highest rank of demons as an Epic level rogue. He waits for Fiora's return and won't be too thrilled to see that she's following St. Cuthbert and also leading a group of powerful adventurers in that could possibly fulfill the prophecy. I have a very loose plot line and any suggestions or questions would be very helpful. I don't even care if the combat is that great as long as the story is solid.
