Controlling undead - how long does it last?

One of my players is running a necro variant that can command undead like a cleric. He was disgusted when I told him the control only lasts for 10 rounds, as if it were a form of turning. He thinks it's permanent, which is a big difference obviously. I can't tell from the rules, and wanted to get your expert opinion. What's your take?

Once you've established control it's permanent (until you exceed you HD limit).

Instead of comparing "command" to "turn", you should be comparing "command" to "destroy". They're both harder (than command or rebuke) and both permanent.

Yes, it is permanent!
Control is the equivalent to destroy undead, as are turn and rebuke are equivalencies.

If you destroy undead by channeling positive energy, they don't reform after 10 rounds have past, do they. ;)
