In the past, TSR and those who played their games tried to avoid controversy and attention. Most of the old timers will remember the bad press or the question from a stranger asking you why you worship the devil… Now as corporate America takes over the reigns, we are beginning to see the direction in which our industry might go. The newer products we are playing are aimed at much more violent tolerant crowd of youngsters who grew up on MTV, But-Head & Beavis, South Park and other such shows. The latest round of products like The Adult Version of Dragon, Book of Vile Darkness and others publications make you think we are sliding into an abyss. Are we?

First take a step back from the issue and look at it from the side of MONEY. These so called controversial products and letters written by others complaining about them could be nothing more than a clever marketing scheme exploiting our community (Tracy Hickman's view of the Dragon #300 sealed section forum) to build up their profitability…

Your curiosity about these products will drive up the sales and reinforce the corporate belief that controversy sales… Remember NEW COKE…
