D&D 3E/3.5 Conversion from AD&D to 3.5/3.0

Ok, so I've been told there were some rules or formulae or something to convert monsters from AD&D to the new rules (dont care about whether its 3.0 or 3.5 cause they are basically the same). Anyway, I have a planescape monster compendium that has a couple monsters i really like and im sure i could figure out a way to convert them, but the most difficult part would be to figure the challenge rating vs exp. Otherwise I THINK it wouldnt be to bad. Anyway, if you guys know where i could find something like this let me know.
