What I found interesting was this:

The article is discussing disciplines and which one really emphasizes what role.

Notice it's not Controller.

Of course, because at this point it would be akin to telling you to recreate your setting sun swordmage (who resembles a monk, but without all the suck) as a wizard. And they have come out and said that the 4E monk will be a striker. You'll note that the desert wind school (which actually is about throwing fireballs, creating walls of fire and such) doesn't have controller listed amongst its roles either.

Maybe, but once ki showed up on the 'future power sources' list in PH1, I thought ki striker was all but certain.
