Description doesn't create a type. Mechanics and lore have to match up or there is a disconnect. If the lore says most elves are wizards and are rarely fighters, but the mechanics do nothing to back that lore up, then there is a problem. There's no reason for the lore to exist the way it does and players aren't generally going to follow it. They have no incentive to. +X items are like floating bonuses. Generic and boring. A sword that gives you +2 to dex is more interesting. There is no issue. With specific stat bonuses and penalties there is no superiority or inferiority between the fantasy races. It doesn't exist. Yes, based on their subjective preferences. Sure, but that's just a generic declaration with nothing to back it up. I can also declare that they are equal in every way that matters with nothing to back it up. I'm not, though. I'm showing you that there is no such thing as a superior or inferior stat in D&D. Subjective preference doesn't make dex superior to int, and it can only be superior if you subjectively prefer what dex gives over what int, con, str, cha or wis give, and then it's only superior for you, not in any objective sense. In the real world it isn't true, though. It was and is an excuse for discrimination and abuse. That is not the case in D&D unless an individual table makes it that way for some reason. So let's remove all wrongs that cause offense in the real world from the game. No assault. No killing. No theft. No insults. No bullying(and PCs bully a LOT). Once we remove anything and everything that can be or is offensive in the real world, the game will be lots of fun to play.
