Coordinated Fire

MM p139:
"Hobgoblin archers take up positions behind cover (if available)
and form a tight line to gain the benefits of coordinated
fire
."

What the heck is coordinated fire? The hob archer's listed powers are longsword, longbow, and hobgoblin resilience.

Is it supposed to be the ability that is tacked on to its longbow attack?

I checked the official updates and ran a google search against this board, but came up empty. Thanks in advance.

It's not actually named coordinated fire in the MM, but i believe it's their ability to grant a +2 to ranged attack roles to an ally within 5 squares.

It's probably a typo. Some earlier version of the monster had an ability called "Coordinated Fire" that was either removed or renamed (or had its name removed).

I seem to recall hobgoblins in an early preview having such a name, probably for the ability Galeman mentions. But that might be my mind playing tricks on me. I no longer have the PDF compilation of pre-release monster information, as it became superfluous once I owned the MM.

Maybe there is such a power (though I've not heard of it), but my guess is that "coordinated fire" is just standard tactical talk for "all the ranged attacked attack just one guy until he goes down." It's tactics, not a power.

Concentrate the Damage: Don't have you character hit one orc in one round then attack a different orc in the next round. In D&D, enemies don't lose any offensive potential until they're knocked all the way down to 0 hit points, so slowly wearing down multiple foes at one time simply means that you're given more enemies more opportunities to hurt your character before they go down. Pick one or two foes at a time and drop them before starting on the next enemies.

Coordinated Fire means when artillery communicates and looses their shots tactically, as opposed to Fire at Will which is when artillery simply shoots randomly.

"Coordinated Fire" is italicized in the text, which means it is refering to a power.

I know what coordinated fire is, with regards to military tactics. That has nothing to do with the text in the MM that prompted my question.
