Cost of improved construct/ homonculous

My artificer is coming up on his 'craft homonculous' ability and I was wondering what the general thought was on the cost of crafting an iron defender from adamantine.
The reason is to make a develop a bargain rate shield guardian.
- The adamantine would provide DR.
- Imbue the creature with Shield other to help with my character's damage take.
- Imbue a method of regeneration/ fast healing; vigor or such...

1. It's Homunculus, not homonculous. Trust me, you'll find a lot more about them using google when you use the right term :)
2. Using the pricing guidelines from the DMG (p.283) for items made of adamantine, which would lead to a price of 5000 gp per DR, I'd say the price of the base materials increases with 1/3 of that amount. (Note that the adamantine cost is always in addition to the normal price, so no removing the base cost in iron first!)
3. As far as I know, shield other bypasses DR. so be carefull with that.
4. I'm pretty sure a creature has to have some kind of natural healing to benefit from fast healing and/or regeneration. Check with your DM.
5. Magic of Eberron has a special feat called 'Improved Homunculus', which allows you to add abilities to a Homunculus when you improve him (NB: give him more HD). Since you are trying to improve on your base Homunculus, I'd require that feat for the shield other/regeneration types of abilities. The DR, I'd allow without it.

Note that adamantine is far less available then iron, and your DM might require you to actually obtain the adamantine yourself. (or harvest it from fallen constructs. Note that you can NOT harvest it from warforged, the rules specifically disallow this!)

Hope this gives you enough to go on.

Google is pretty forgiving with spelling...

I was thinking improving the
homunculus
would be similar to adding enhancements; ala craft magic arms/ wondrous item. Artificers apply their infusions on 'things' vice people, I was thinking the same route. Limiting the enhancements by 'slots' (neck, shoulder, etc..).
The Imp Hom feat allows this without cost, thus a pretty good feat if you're willing.

2 - the 'shield other' is more for my characters continued existence; I was thinking divying up damage between me and something else with fast healing/ regen would help extend his endurance in fights.

4 - I always wondered why 'limited wish' was a component in constructing Shield Guardians, but that makes sense.

Great idea if your DM goes for it.

I'd suggest your character go look for exceedingly rare or unique creation materials as a plot element. Ask your DM if he\she likes the idea and try for a one off. Perhaps reworking the heart of a more powerful construct or requesting a body crafted in Mechanus etc....

Shield might be cast from a device the construct would wear.
In any case I think you're limited to a small construct.
