Actually, swing by the House Rules forum to see some people discussing Saiyans (and something called Tyranids, which I'm not familiar with). If you wanted to accurately represent the power of Dragon Ball Z, you'd need to make characters that are the equivalent of level 50, 100, or higher (even Master Roshi was able to blow up the moon with a kamehameha). It's really hard to actually run a game like that unless the players are going to roleplay the same way that the characters in DBZ roleplay. Namely, they don't use all their power except against the super-mean badguy, and the badguys don't just destroy the world. Rather, they want to challenge the PCs to one-on-one combat, and then destroy the world. However, if you want to capture the feel of DBZ, you could do it fairly easily with characters equivalent to 10th to 20th level. At these levels, you can fly at the speed of sound, shoot energy blasts at will (probably maxing out at 7d6 damage, which isn't quite enough to cover the kinds of things in the show, but it keeps the right feel), have very high hit points, and be super strong. You won't be able to actually reach the specific levels that the characters in the show do, but it keeps the challenges a little more manageable, avoiding the power inflation you always see in DBZ. But hey, if you wanna go for a 100th-level game, FCTF can cover that. I don't think we ever did quite figure out how much damage it takes to destroy the moon, though.
