Counterattacking rules?

Are there conterattacking rules in D&D? I want to make a barroom brawler who can counterattack but i haven't found any. Not sure if there are.

Not as far as i know. You could just have a high dex and take combat reflexes for more attacks of opportunity. You could also use readied actions all the time to interrupt whoever attacks you by tripping them or something.

Also, here is a neat homebrew "Barkeeper" class. Not amazing but pretty dang fun. I ran an NPC with this class and my players loved him.

Robiliar's Gambit and Karmic Strike are the feats you want. You make the enemy provoke a ton of AoOs for attacking you.

also, if you have two-weapon fighting the feat Double Hit (miniatures handbook) lets you use your main AND offhand weapons when you get AoOs
