Yep, great ending...but alas, doesn't compare to the best episode of the series........*dramatic pause*.....Mushroom Samba. :D :D

"Hey mister, this is a stairway to Heaven"

"...an annoying frog..."

:D

Ryan, you should look into other stuff done by Yoko Kanno if you like the music in Cowboy Bebop (of which the very best has to be "Blue" the last ending theme, and "Green Bird" from near the end of episode 5). Some of her other work is in Visions of Escaflowne, though I can't recall what else.

Did Kanno do the sound track for the movie too? I've gotta say I do love Ask DNA. Of the original series, I never get tired of the opening theme music Tank!, and the redone version of The Real Folk Blues that plays in the last episode always gets me humming along (because I can't make out half the Japanese lyrics).

Dang. When's the movie coming out here legitimately?

It's going to be playing in select theaters on April 14 I believe.
No word on a DVD release date though :(

I don't know about the movie, but I think that version of the Real Folk Blues that plays in the last episode is called "See You Space Cowboy". I saw a listing for it once while listening to it and that's what it said.

"You Gotta Carry That Weight"

That is indeed the title of that version.

Cowboy Bebop soundtracks seriously rock. I think I've managed to collect them all, plus the special edition four-disc set with the excerpts from the Seatbelts! live concert and the bonus minidisc featuring "Tank!" with lyrics sung by Aoi Tada (Ed) and the "Cowboy Funk" BGM sung by the VA for Cowboy Andy (whose name I can't remember).

"Knock a Little Harder" and "Ask DNA" are terrific, but I think "Blue" is my favorite (as you might guess). :)

More Yoko Kanno work

Yoko Kanno is indeed the goddess of anime music.

Just between Cowboy Bebop and Vision of Escaflowne (TV series and films), she's already demonstrated pretty amazing range. She also did the music for Brain Powered and Earth Girl Arjuna, among a host of other stuff. She also has some non-anime music albums out, most notably Song to Fly, which features some of the performers from various Cowboy Bebop songs (including the lady who sings "Mushroom Hunting").

"Blue" is definately my favorite also. I can't think of a song with more emotion, especially when I remember the end of the series. It still gives me goosebumps.

I had no idea there were lyrics to "Tank!" though, in hindsight, I shouldn't be surprised. I've run across several themes that had lyrics added to them on special re-releases (my favorites being the themes added tothe classic Final Fantasy scores on the Final Fantasy Pray CD).

While I'm here in Japan though, I've got to find those other works by Yoko Kanno (as soon as I get more money)!
