For those of you who have bought the amazing Complete adventurer, the first thing that may catch your attention is the simple, yet eloquent, ninja. With invisibility, spell like abilities, and every skill tweaked just right so that the ninja resembles what a ninja would be like in D&D and in roleplay terms, I see a base class that with the correct care, could be turned into a varient class that would turn and baffle the tactical element in D&D. First up, I'll use an example of one of my own NPC's. In a way, he has molded both sorc and ninja to work for his class. ( see http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=121616 ) These varients will most likely simply be simplifications of multiclass characters. Putting together a good ninja/sorc can be tricky due to the low BAB and different saves. The idea here is to limit the spells the ninja can use (limit versitility) in a trade off for more powerful things. (So, for example, an illusionist ninja doesn't have to spend 9 levels in sorc just to get the one spell, Mislead. Of course, there are always trade offs.) Here are some of the varient ninja classes that I'm currently working on (and playtesting) Please share if you have any work with the ninja class. Illusionist Master of the art of deceiving opponents, this varient ninja uses invisibility and halucinatory forms to create confusion within the opponent. Evoker Frustrated with the complicated techniques of deceit and invisibility, this ninja takes a more direct approach. This ninja uses direct spell-like abilities that resemble some of the mage's powerful offensive spells, though sacrificing some of his stealth abilities. Martial Artist Master of physical techniques and no other, this varient ninja uses his increased mobility and amazing speed to take opponents off guard. The most powerful of his techniques surpass human capabilities, often making this techniques 'forbidden' in the eyes of other ninja. Should a martial artist use his most powerful moves, it will destroy a powerful enemy, but in return, could destroy the ninja himself. Mage Bane These ninjas, though using limited abilities of magic themselves, seek to destroy magic. Their abilities are lacking in stealth(less sneak attack), but in return, they receive powers to eliminate mage's prepared magic. (I think this varient might get the can, still testing it, though.)
