Creature by Poll #8/#9 (Astral Manes/Raven Entities) Concept Gathering!

Two creatures came in the first place in our vote, so we'll try to gather concepts for both of them.

Here is how we will do concepts:

Write the concept in a few short sentences. Include the alignment and size.
Do not include Hit Dice - we will vote on them after the concept vote.

Make sure to include a [CbP] tag in the subject line of the email, as well as the name(s) of the creature(s). After I get a nice number of concepts, I'll start the concept poll.
If you have trouble making a creature work with its current name, you can make minor adjustments, leaving the meaning of the name intact.

Using the names as a starting point, I suspect that several concepts could be much more similar than in the earlier CbPs. This way, nobody should need to hold back a concept.

But if it is a problem to mail, go ahead and post the concept(s). I'd prefer e-mail, though.

You know, when I first read this, I thought you meant for Astral Manes and Raven Entities to be dualistic monsters, possibly with opposed energies or nemesis abilities.
I.e., Astral Manes are positive energy tendril-horses that shape-shift and Raven Entities are shadow/negative energy birdmen.

Actually I'd go with this duality too but cast Raven Entities as CN negative energy entities that manifest as a swarm of ravens with darkness and fear abilities (The Birds the Birds!) - hey possibly even worshipped by some Druid cults as the manifestation of darkness called the Morrigan

Astral Manes are CN positivie energy beings tend to manifest only as shafts of light which perice the darkness brought by the Raven Entitites. They have compulsion (possibly even psionic abilities) and will sometimes appear in the form of a dead relative in order to communicate* (irl 'Manes' iirc are spirits of benevolent ancestors)
