Ecology Introduction- Among the wisest of natural creatures is the centaur. Found in forests on almost every continent, the centaur has the lower body of a horse and the torso of a man. They are known for their prowess as warriors, their brilliance, and their pride in the previous two qualities. Physiological Observations- The lower body of a centaur is typical of that of a horse. Centaurs most commonly have black, brown, or red fur, though some are known to have lighter, or patterned pelts. There human half is in most ways identical to a normal human torso, with some exceptions. They have a larger amount of hair on the human part of their bodies. They are larger, and more muscled. And their ears are pointed. Social Observations- Centaurs live in their own societies, separate from those of other intelligent beings. These societies are small and tribal, usually containing less than a thousand individuals. The tribes are very communal and egalitarian—there is no single king or chieftain of a centaur tribe. Rather, the tribe is ruled by general agreement of the masses. Centaur tribes are highly competitive over their territory, and frequently clash. Despite this, relatively few large scale wars between centaur tribes have been recorded. Behavioral Observations- Individual centaurs have distinct personalities. Despite this, centaurs are in general highly intelligent—moreso than most men. Their societies’ knowledge of mathematics, astronomy, and other natural sciences are second to none. In spite of centaurs’ martial ability, they are not naturally inclined to violence. However, if provoked, centaurs are deadly opponents, with a particular affinity for spears and bows as weapons. Interspecies Observation- Centaurs keep to themselves. Their intelligence grants them a level of perspective which keeps them out of most conflicts outside of their own species. When they do interact with others, they are most commonly aloof and disinterested, although, if pressed, will ally themselves if doing so results in self-preservation. For these and many other creatures be sure to pickup a copy of the Morgalad Fantasy RPG Core Rulebook at DrivethruRPG Also if youd like to support our work here at McNabb Games to bring you new content every week feel free to support our projects over at our Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/mcnabbgames)
