Creature of the Week – Cyclops On the Christmas Creature of the Week my GM gave to me, a creature with one eye so they can see. Today we look at the ecology of the cyclops (referred to as cyclopes in groups). Cyclopes are a race of one-eyed giants. They are exceptionally strong and look almost identical to giant humans except for one single eye in the middle of their forehead. Exceptionally strong, but not exceptionally intelligent, they often find themselves in the service of more intelligent, but equally malevolent, overlords. Physiological Observations- Cyclopes are very large humanoids, reaching maximum heights of 30 feet. They weigh several tons and have thick, greyish skin. Cyclopes are hairless, and their single eye is very large. They are imbued with superhuman strength and are known to rip trees out of the ground and use them as weapons. Social Observations- Cyclopes live in the mountains in small clans. They once had much more widely spread populations, but have been hunted nearly to extinction. They subside on mountain lions and goats. Cyclopes are not naturally companionable creatures, but due to dwindling numbers, have been forced to live in close proximity to each other. Their numbers continue to dwindle due to inter- clan rivalries, and it’s likely that cyclopes will drive themselves to extinction before anyone else. Behavioral Observations- Cyclopes are not intelligent and are often driven to fits of violent rage. They can, however, be placated by certain types of particularly sweet music. Interspecies Observations- Cyclopes are not fond of humans, or any creatures that at all resemble humans, due to their role in cyclopes’ near extinction. None the less, there are times in history when cyclopes have made the difference in deciding the winners in human wars. If cyclopes can be manipulated into doing human bidding, they can be a valuable asset. For these creatures and many others check out our products page and be sure to pickup a copy of theMorgalad Fantasy RPG Core Rulebook at DrivethruRPG Also if youd like to support our work here at McNabb Games to bring you new content every week feel free to support our projects over at ourPatreon (https://www.patreon.com/mcnabbgames)
