Creedbook - The Book of the Sun This is an exciting new product for Players and Dungeon Masters alike! Clerics in most RPGs are described as being "devout followers" of various deity with a link to the divine, but in reality, many clerics end up as either "walking first-aid kits" or the dreaded "warrior-spell caster-healer" combat hog. There is very little emphasis on role playing, and even when there is good role playing opportunities, the ambiguities of "good" and "evil" in the game make for unsure and contradictory moral decisions from session to session. For many player's characters, they simply devolve into a cheap amalgam of New-Age, Pagan, and Medieval Catholic stereotypes, or role playing is abandoned altogether. The same goes for Paladins, who end up as just another plate-armored fighter with a European chivalric code. The Book of the Sun is a full Creedbook for Dungeon Masters, Clerics, Paladins, Priests, and other characters who need or want a well defined religious law with which to adhere. Masters can use elements the book to inspire their own creeds, or use the creed as-is to add a religious organization to their game-worlds and character development opportunities for their players. The Book of the Sun is the Creedbook for Zar, a Lawful-Good sun deity, but can easily be modified for nearly any deity, or even other game systems! Pick and choose your way to a consistent and game-friendly creed! If you want your Cleric to be more than a wizard with a mace, or a fighter with a spellbook, you need the Book of the Sun! The Book of the Sun deals with Religious Topics such as:

The Deity of Zar; his names, attributes, abilities, attitudes, relationship to other deity, etc.
The Doctrine of Zar; how it was delivered, holy writings, application, core principles, etc.
Birth & Child-Rearing; attitudes toward children, raising of children, puberty, etc.
Death & Dying; the Afterlife, funerals, murder, suicide, etc.
Divinations; learning of the future.
Food & Diet; foods that are required and foods that are prohibited.
Religious Hierarchy; there is a complex system of religious government for the cult of Zar.
Zarite Holidays; days set aside for the special observance of Zarites.
Punishment & Discipline; whenever a Zarite trespasses against the laws of the cult, a punishment must be exacted.
Weddings & Marriage; courtship, sexuality, ceremonies, polygamy, divorce, etc.
Worship Rituals; the idols and holy places for Zarites, and days of regular worship.
Includes B&W "Printer-Friendly" Version
