Are you saying this should be (excuse the pun) tossed as was the +1 to attack kobolds/goblinoids? We came to the decision in the Half-Dwarf thread that one would lose the +1 to hit orcs/goblinoids and would lose the +4 to dodge giants. This extends to the gnomes as well. I feel the child's focus is split in training to be an adult and doesn't have quite the same body type for the tactics they learn to use (or, you know, whatever reason you want to give really- this is a balance issue). Should we lose the +1 to hit with a thrown weapon? Personally, I say no. With good Dexterity and the halfling prediliction for darts and skipping stones this would rub off. Now the extensive training based off physiology and location for dodging/attacking certain creatures might not. Goblin and kobold hordes aren't always threatening the town and the kids certainly aren't fighting them. And of course everytime gnome Mom tries to enroll junior in Kobold-bashing school halfling Dad keeps saying, "Son, now what have I told you? IF you meet a goblin in the caves (and you know I don't like you going there), you look like you are going to run at the Goblin, see- show no fear, they can sense it. And then you do a somersault like this and get behind 'em. 'E's wonderin',"Where'd my dinner go?" And then you just hit 'em in the back with anything you got- a stone, a dagger, a potted plant- and you run like hell.
