May 9, 2003-- Are your player-characters a little too big for their britches? A little too cocky about their skills or their magic weapons? A little too certain that the world is their oyster? Cryptosnark Games would like to introduce you to a few people who can take some of the spring out of their step... for the right price. It's time to hire out a few *Killers,* and remind your players that DM's don't kill characters... it's those darn NPCs that kill characters! After taking a long, hard look at the *Killers* project, we've decided to split it up just a little bit– originally slated for two books, each priced at $6.00, *Killers* will instead be split into three volumes, each priced at $4.00. This will allow a cleaner breakdown between the three major themes of the NPC collection (and thus offer greater utility to customers), as follows: *Volume One: Cold Hearts and Hired Knives,* covering solitary killers, freelancers, and relatively "mortal" foes, CR 3 to CR 15; *Volume Two: Strange Foes and Subtle Masters,* covering adversaries with bizarre powers and extreme skill levels, CR 7 to CR 22; and *Volume Three: Shadow Generals and Silent Guilds,* covering the leaders, lieutenants, bases, and habits of six complete assassins' guilds. Without any further ado, the first volume is available at the Cryptosnark website (as of today, May 9) and at RPGnow.com (as of this weekend): Killers, Volume One: Cold Hearts and Hired Knives An NPC Threat Sourcebook for fantasy d20 Featuring Illustrations by Michael Yatskar CSD06: 28 pages in PDF format $4.00 *Killers, Volume One* is a collection of memorable NPC assassins, murderers, bandits, hired thugs, and other miscreants for use with any fantasy d20 campaign, featuring 16 NPCs of various races, sexes, and murderous habits, each with complete stat blocks and background stories in the usual obsessively thorough Cryptosnark fashion.
