[QUOTE="stevelabny, post: 2866657, member: 9298"] Avatar the Last Airbender [thread hijack] Airs on Nickelodeon, usually Fridays at 8pmish (ish because its part of their kids-block and sometimes starts a few minutes early or late) . It was heavily pimped here on ENWorld before last Thanksgiving when a Season One marathon aired. Three 4-episode DVDs are out from season one, but we assume all 20 will get released in a box set at some point. Half of season two has aired. I thnk they're also available for IPods. Here's the opening narration from the pilot episode: "Water. Earth. Fire. Air. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace; when the Avatar kept balance between Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar mastered all four elements. Only he could stop the ruthless Firebenders, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years have passed, and the Fire Nation is nearing victory in the war. Two years ago, my father and the men of my tribe journeyed to the Earth Kingdom to help fight against the Fire Nation, leaving me and my brother to look after our tribe. Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads and that the cycle is broken. But I haven't lost hope. I still believe that somehow, the Avatar will return to save the world." This is narrated by Katara. She goes ice-fishing with her brother Sokka and they come across Aang, the last Airbender and his flying bison, Appa. Aang was in training to become the next Avatar, but he's been trapped in ice for 100 years. Now that he's been released, he has to learn to bend the other three elements and save the world. The three start their world tour searching for masters to teach Aang. Aang can airbend and is the eager adventurous one, Katara can waterbend and is the cautious thinking one, and Sokka is... well, Sokka. He's the guy with the boomerang and the sarcasm. He's the Zeppo. And Appa is a big flying bison. How can you not love this group? Meanwhile, Prince Zuko has been exiled from the Fire Nation. He is travelling with his Uncle Iroh, searching for the Avatar to regain his rightful place at his father's side.
