In the downtime between our recent sessions I've been speculating (ok, fantasizing) about what I could do with my character if taken to extreme (like level 100). Epic spells are part of that, and I've started creating some very simple ones: Complete Dispelling Abjuration Spellcraft DC:129 Components: V,S Casting Time: 1 action Range: 300 ft. Target: One creature, object or spell Duration: Instantaneous Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: No To Develop: 1,161,000 gp; 24 days; 46,440 XP. Seed: dispel (DC 19). Factors: +90 on check (+90 DC), 1-action casting time (+20 DC) This spell functions similarly to greater dispel magic, except that the caster level check is 1d20 + 100 vs. a DC of 11 + CL. Making Conjuration (Creation) Spellcraft DC:205 Components: V,S Casting Time: 1 minute Range: 0 ft. Effect: up to 30 cu. ft. of non-living matter Duration: Permanent Saving Throw: None Spell Resistance: No To Develop: 1,845,000 gp; 37 days; 73,800 XP. Seed: conjure (DC 21). Factors: +10 cu. ft. (+20 DC), permanent duration (x5 DC) This spell creates a nonmagical, unattended object of nonliving matter of up to 30 cubic feet in volume. The caster must succeed at an appropriate skill check to make a complex item. Once I had statted out Making, I realized that material wealth is pretty much irrelevant if you have such a spell. The seed description states that any material, including substances such as mithral and adamantine, can be created with the conjure seed. After thinking about that, I did a few calculations and arrived at the conclusion that a cubic foot of platinum weighs almost 1340 lbs. At 500 gp/lb, this means that a single cubic foot of platinum is worth 669,855 gp, so a single casting of Making could create 20,095,650 gp worth of the metal. The drawback being that this is a permanent spell, not an instantaneous one, so that a high enough level caster (one casting Complete Dispelling, perhaps) could dismiss this substance. Barring that, it's as good as the real thing... I was hoping to get someone to shoot a hole in my conclusions... :)
