Cycling desktop wallpaper

Is there a (free) program or utility that does this? I have an archive of cool images I never get a chance to look at, and it would be kind of cool if I could download something that set my wallpaper to a random image every few hours.

Webshots will do it. The number of wallpapers you can get from them is limited if you don't subscribe, but you can easily add your own to it. Go to www.webshots.com.

Open System Preferences. Select "Desktop & Screen Saver". Choose a folder containing the pictures you want to use and select the interval to change the picture. Oh...you'll need to be using Mac OS X. ;)

You can do it yourself wihtout relying on a service, I think. You might need some webspace, though. Or maybe just some simple web-coding knowledge... maybe both.

I'm going to be busy for the next 24 hours or so, but I know how to do this step-by-step - I just need time to post it here. I'll subscribe to this thread so I remember to come back, or so I can see if someone else answers. :p

Microsoft do a free one for Windows XP as part of the Power Toys. At least I think thats where I got mine.

Ah yes Here you go Lets you set a whole folder and/or particular ones for particular days of the year so you could have a Xmas theme in winter for example.

Let me guess, it involves using the Active Desktop? I've never understood that thing.

Thanks, but I guess I should have mentioned I'm running Windows 2000. It's my work computer.

Blast! Webshots requires administrative access to install (it must require access to system files or the registery). I never know what I'll be able to install. Oh well...

Ok, I managed to do it... I think... via the attached file. Not quite sure it works yet....

Hey, does anybody remember how, in Win2k, to get your desktop icons to vanish?

The Funeral took a bit longer than expected - It seems like you've got this working. I didn't even think to check Power Toys. I'm just so used to Microsoft including a ridiculous number of useless features (that's not a bug... :D ) in everything they make, I forgot that they decided not to include some useful utilities with XP.

I'll probably post what I was talking about before just for the heck of it.
