A short session today
[HEADING=2]Two new newspapers appear this summer:[/HEADING]

The Flint Observer (Summer 85–91)
The Alarm Bell (Summer 89)
[HEADING=2]Summary – [/HEADING]

The Kaybeau Arms Expo is coming soon.
Repair works on Cauldron Hill face new delays.
Fey protests against antisocial violations of old traditions.
“Wicked Gates” toll checkpoints on the subrail.
Anti-corruption call addressed to Governor Stanfield.
Artifact exhibition led by Professor Hans Weber.
[HEADING=2]Summary – [/HEADING]

Strongly critical of the Kaybeau Arms Expo.
Mischief in Cloudwood and Bole linked to protests against antisocial measures?
Too much iron in the new railway network causing strange phenomena?
Foreign delicacies conquer Risur.
[HEADING=2]1st of Autumn[/HEADING] We report to Sgt. Sarah Lockheart (Local Police) at the Kaybeau Expo in Central Park. About twenty exhibition stands are present:

Risuri Army, with miniature battle displays.
Steel plating, 5 inches thick, demonstrated with a cannon at 5 meters.
Ministry of Railways shows a diorama and model of current and planned railway lines.
A steel tower is being constructed during the expo.
Cailenfuel.
Canned vegetables.
A small tent with a mechanical music organ.
Pemberton Industries: The B.E.A.R. (Battle Enhanced Animalistic Replicant) project will be unveiled tonight at 9 PM.
Nevard Sechim is there, selling a sour alchemical drink.
Cippiano also makes an appearance.
A stage is being set up — Staf spots Rock Rackus among the crowd.
Gnomes run a booth with a Badgergun.
A half-giant demonstrates a seven-shot firearm.
Steam-powered armor, crafted by halflings — they also have a flamethrower. Staf tries to trip the power armor, but fails.
Ayleen tries to negotiate a bulk discount on +1 magical ammunition but fails the challenge of hitting the bullseye. She ends up buying 10 bullets for personal use. Kane investigates the Temple of Uriel, but finds it half-destroyed and devoid of any lingering divine Light. He also checks on the Kell Guild, which seems to have lost influence compared to La Famiglia. [HEADING=2]Evening – The BEAR Demonstration[/HEADING] We gain entry using the invitations provided by Pemberton and enjoy the refreshments. Pemberton gives a speech and presents the B.E.A.R., a large mechanical construct piloted by a gnome named Dolf, wearing a futuristic helmet. Ayleen casts Detect Magic and senses powerful enchantments — particularly in the gnome’s helmet and in the BEAR’s core. A volunteer is requested for a mock duel with the BEAR. Under some peer pressure, Staf is pushed forward. He steps up to the challenge and opens with a few solid, swift strikes and grappling attempts, but can’t gain a proper hold. The BEAR retaliates — biting, then delivering four crushing blows straight to Staf’s face, knocking him out cold. Staf is revived briefly on a stool and receives loud applause for his bravery. Pemberton himself approaches and discreetly slips him a gemstone in thanks.
