'k, I've also thought of a couple of ideas. Hopefully one will be ok. If not, I'm sure I can come up with something a little less odd. The Homunculus Who Lived The Master was taken and they laughed at the creature scrabbling in the cage to get out and follow. But he did eventually work his way out of the cage and then the search began. He followed down into the earth where the Master was being held and tortured. When he found the Master he was overjoyed. Master was seriously wounded, though, and the homunculus perched on his shoulder when the last breath rattled from the Master's torn body. When they came to take the Master again he fought. Again they shoved him into a cage, and even though Master was dead he still lived. Ogre Slave Ogre didn't mind being a slave because he was happy as long as he had his pet monkey. Then one of the slave-drivers played a particularly cruel joke on the ogre that resulted in the monkey's death. Ogre became enraged and beat the man to death with a chain. Now Ogre sits waiting for death in a deep cell, but he hardly notices as he coos an awful song to the stinky, mummified monkey corpse he cradles in one huge hand. Mad Gnome Redux Dragged from the forest, companion slain, tortured and locked away from the sun, the gnome is slowly going mad until the mad whispers of one of his brethren give him the hope of daylight again. [Gnome Woodling Druid, unless you think the LA would be too crippling]
