D&D 3E/3.5 D&D 3.5 Ways to Increase Hit Die Size?

@Talonblaze , look at the variant racial class on p71.

True, it only boosts HD for the four levels but even that helps

If your going for a melee build the eventual plus 8 STR is very handy, the +2 CON also helps your HP, +2 INT for more skills and +2 CHA does good for both Bardic and Spellcasting.

@GreyLord ; Dragon Disciple grants d12, is easy to get into, but REALLY would limit spell progression. It's more for fighter types.

Of course it's something you would have to start from level one.

@Gray Lensman
Well, in this case yes, those 4 levels would give you the d12 for hit points. Though it takes wasting 4 damn levels to get that much. I was thinking you were using the typical Half-Dragon template and not the Draconic Variant.

So while it would probably only boost your hp by 20 hit points max even as a spellcaster. Which I think Improved Toughness would do better in such a regard. One feat instead of 4 levels.

True, In fact, I think his best build for getting to the Prestige Bard would be not to worry so much about HD as total HP. Since BAB has to be +3 and Knowledge (any) 4 and Knowledge (Perform) 8 -==- and cast 1 spell from several different schools.

I would say fighter for the d10 (Barbarian if you want to RP an illiterate Bard) and the fisrt level of draconic goes with it and is not wasted, then waste the 2nd level on draconic again to get All the below:

Benefits
+2 on Intimidate checks and Spot checks

Str +2, Con +2, Cha +2
Claws
, darkvision 60 ft.,

dragonblood subtype,
low-light vision, natural
armor (+1), +4 racial bonus
on saves against sleep and
paralysis

He does not have to take levels three and four unless he wants and can even do so later.

Wastes 1 level and adds to attack and damage, HP and concentration bumps armor class the vision benes and even save bennies

then he can go with 2 more levels of fighter to get BAB to +3
