Reward: 2000 XP & 1000gp each.</p><p><s>#002 Find and investigate the ancient dragon burial site Dicky was looking for, he might be there. Reward: 250 XP.</s> COMPLETE</p><p><s>#003 Destroy the kobold menace, including their leader- ‘Chopper.’ Reward: 250 XP & 75gp, with 1gp paid for every kobold tail handed in.</s> COMPLETE</p><p>#004 Stop Orcus-worshipping Karl’s ritual to bring an undead army to Kirkgate. Basically, save the village, begs (eventually) Lord Crumble. Karl is in Kirkgate. 1000 XP & 500gp reward.</p><p>#005 Find/Save Cheggers. That's it really, the PCs just need to find/save Cheggers (he’s with Karl, if he’s still alive), for Fionulla (the spy). Reward 100 XP.</p><p>#006 Find and kill/capture the Bloody Heck- including any leaders. Recover any prisoners they have kidnapped. Reward: 400 XP & 100gp, with 1gp paid for every member of the Bloody Heck confirmed dead or captured.</p><p>#007 Find all five symbols of Kurgan Kurgan’s office to open the way below Kirkgate. 1000 XP reward (and the PCs get to keep the items of course). One item found so far.</p><p><s>#008 Save the Lowder’s and their farm from the Bloody Heck slavers. 250 XP reward.</s> COMPLETE</p><p></p><p>Right then, this is going to be a short one- after the fight, which took two hours (including meeting/shouting time) to play out, well… there’s not much left of this session. But still lots to do for the Inspectors, who are however- done in (some of them).</p><p></p><p>And so, here’s what goes down, and keep in mind there are only two pictures left to show you. So- it’s very mostly text that follows.</p><p></p><p>The Inspectors investigate the Bloody Heck’s lodgings and rob the fallen enemies of all their stuff- or at least all the stuff the adventurers want for themselves. There’s a small chest half full of money, nearly 200 gold, plus the various hobgoblin’s personal wealth, which doesn’t add up to a whole lot more.</p><p></p><p>However, there’s also a very fine short sword, the blade itself decorated/etched with demons and devils, it’s magical. Travis could use this, the halfling rogue mentions this fact several times, but- Snakebite also has a hankering for a magical blade. Travis agrees that the weapon should go to the half-orc monk immediately. I mention this fact because around the VTT this act of magnanimity from the halfling rogue caused much consternation- Travis has changed, where has the argumentative surly halfling gone, who is this pleasant and polite imposter.</p><p></p><p>The weapon is a vicious short sword. Snakebite is made up, she really love that little guy- Travis.</p><p></p><p>We move on, although the Inspectors (or else the management team- C-Fax & Mavis) were expecting to find orders, papers, notes, messages- whatever, they were expecting more information, but nothing.</p><p></p><p>The Inspectors head a level up and investigate the altar- there’s one of the Bahamut blessed magic items hidden somewhere here, the power of prayer brought this to their attention earlier. The lid lifts off easily (although it’s heavy). Within the hollow space is a gleaming (even after all these years) suit of splint mail, the chest guard etched with an image of a rearing dragon… Bahamut.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]416182[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>C-Fax reaches in- light pulses- pushing the paladin’s hands away, and a voice ring’s out…</strong></p><p></p><p>“A wondrous treasure,</p><p>Valued by all, sought by many.</p><p>Found in both victory and defeat,</p><p>Yet never at the bottom of a treasure chest.</p><p>It marches before you like a herald,</p><p>And lives long after you are gone.</p><p>Of what do I speak?”</p><p></p><p>At which point four of the five players/PCs shout out the answer pretty much immediately.</p><p></p><p>“Honour.”</p><p></p><p>In a ragged chorus.</p><p></p><p>Travis (deliberately, thanks Yui) didn’t understand either the question or the answer.</p><p></p><p>The magical suit of armour is taken (by Mavis), and a little later it’s discovered that the scale armour grants the wearer necrotic resistance. Note, the adventurers also discover that Sgt Groan’s armour is in fact padded armour of fire resistance. This is taken to be sold later.</p><p></p><p>The Inspectors have two of the five items that they need, although- only two- that’s a bit disappointing as time is running out. Also- where the hell are the other three items. The rest of this (brief) discussion comes later.</p><p></p><p>Next step, after a brief search through the rest of the dungeon, is to head cautiously up and back into the tower, back to the surface. The two captured hobgoblins (Sgt Groan & Zospin) are still there, nothing has changed.</p><p></p><p>The Inspectors, all of them, head off into the nearby Norwood to recover their horses, they are going to stay at Dragon Castle for the night, it’s 11 PM when they emerge from the dungeon. It’s been a long day.</p><p></p><p>Then, before bedtime a few revelations.</p><p></p><p>Sgt Groan and Zospin are sent below to be interviewed, in separate rooms, and by separate teams- but at the same time- although with breaks for the two teams to check the hobgoblin’s stories out. Truth be told though, neither of the hobgoblins has much more to add to the sum of the Inspectors knowledge, point of fact they nothing about evil Karl and the ‘plot’.</p><p></p><p>The only point of difference in their testimonies is that Zospin let’s slip that there are another bunch of Bloody Heck hobgoblins set to return to Dragon Castle, these are- of course- the hobgoblins the Inspectors already took care of at the Lowder Farm, they confirm this fact with Zospin.</p><p></p><p>Sgt Groan doesn’t volunteer any of the above, point of fact he outright denies it.</p><p></p><p>Which causes a little bit of a to-do, as McGow mostly wants to borrow Snakebite’s line- to “punch his head off, real gud!”</p><p></p><p>Note, McGow’s actual reply would be unprintable here.</p><p></p><p>But time is running out (for the session) and the PCs have given themselves one more task to accomplish here.</p><p></p><p>First off, and almost by error- Travis once again instigates a moment of prayer to Bahamut, and PING- four of the five PCs make the roll (not McGow) and they all know for a fact that Snakebite’s newly acquired vicious short sword is the third of the items that they are looking for. This too belonged to the Traitor, Kurgan Kurgan.</p><p></p><p>Note, KK did tell the PCs to be on the look-out for a short sword, only… they forgot this.</p><p></p><p>So, just two items to be found.</p><p></p><p>And after yet another bout of Bahamut worship (although only two successes) then, there’s nothing on the radar around here.</p><p></p><p>So, the last question before bedtime is- where are the missing two items, which are- a longsword and a shield.</p><p></p><p>But the PCs have already figured the answer to this one out. They think.</p><p></p><p>Have you got it?</p><p></p><p>The answer is, of course, according to the Inspectors…</p><p></p><p>The ancient dragon burial site, the place they first explored and encountered Hagrid the cannibal deep gnome.</p><p></p><p>The PCs collective reasoning for believing this is as follows- they’ve been there (that’s important- apparently); they didn’t search it (at least not properly)- and they remember seeing a sarcophagus there, but no-one remembers checking it out. Also, they know where this place is, and the DM has steadfastly failed to provide the players with a regional map thus far (and they’ve asked), constantly telling them- you’ll not need one. Lastly, Bahamut is a dragon, the site is an ‘ancient dragon burial site’, and the adventure started with Dicky Bird heading to this place to find a long lost treasure.</p><p></p><p>Ipso-facto, it must be…</p><p></p><p>The ancient dragon burial site.</p><p></p><p>I like their logic.</p><p></p><p>But I’m saying nothing (at this point).</p><p></p><p>Which annoys the heck out of the buggers and causes them to go slightly over time exploring the other options (which I am very happy to remind them about), these include- the kobold’s lair, somewhere in Kirkgate or else in the graveyard there, maybe even back down in the tomb itself (but the PCs checked).
