Has Dicky been captured or killed?</p><p>Find the lair of the kobold bandits and kill ‘em all.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]376452[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>And so, to Kirkgate, again…</strong></p><p></p><p>And it’s already mid-afternoon, for both parties when they get here- point of fact Psylk’s Cutters are running an hour behind the Genocide Squad at this point.</p><p></p><p>So, a meal at the Inn and a chat about what comes next, and then a very brief visit to Lord Crumble’s Manor to get paid for the few kobold tails they have collected so far, from the fallen, they get 1gp each for these.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]376453[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Jefron is in the market for a mirror.</strong></p><p></p><p>Then, well- remember the very fancy and ancient mirror that the PCs saw in the Ancient Dragon Burial site- Evil Kenneth used it to communicate with Hagrid there. Thugg grabbed this for the Genocide Squad, and Muldoon for Psylk’s Cutters. Thugg sells the mirror to Jefron Puddleduck, the local Sage (every small village has one) for the princely sum of 100 shiny gold pieces.</p><p></p><p>He was so proud of himself at the time. Here’s the conversation…</p><p></p><p>“My, my- that’s a beautiful piece of work- a few chips and bangs here and there but, it’s ancient- perhaps even, it couldn’t be… is it Netherese? I’ll give you 100gp for it my good chap?”</p><p></p><p>Thugg nods and holds out his hand.</p><p></p><p>Thugg gotsta gets paid.</p><p></p><p>Negotiations complete.</p><p></p><p>Psylk’s Cutters?</p><p></p><p>They identified the mirror first off, spent two hours horse-trading (some of them- Muldoon & Psyk) for the best price, with Puddleduck, as above, and WH Smythe (the local retailer) and… I can’t remember the exact total, but they got nearly twice as much as Thugg, 190-something gold pieces.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]376454[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>WH Smythe buys a mirror from Psylk’s Cutters.</strong></p><p></p><p>Then, after a massive-ish restock.</p><p></p><p>Note, at this point Psylk’s Cutters have realized that carrying extra missile weapons, any variety- almost, is just a good thing. When you’ve just killed a bad guy, and you are out of movement, then having a missile weapon to swap out to, to continue the killing spree (potentially), is a very good thing. Particularly as not having something to hand to throw is basically forgoing a free attack. Not a good idea.</p><p></p><p>Psylk’s Cutters therefore load up with missile weapons, they have also been robbing these from their enemies.</p><p></p><p>The Genocide Squad? Not so much.</p><p></p><p>At this point Maggie has a crossbow with a big bag of bolts- she’s worked it out. Yen and Thugg have maybe three missiles each- darts and javelins respectively, and Sadie- I think the only weapon she possesses is a dagger. Just one. She uses it to cut up her pudding.</p><p></p><p>So, lots of topping up of equipment, although none of the PCs have enough money to buy a Healing Potion as of yet.</p><p></p><p>Although most of them have still got one- not Stonk though, he spent his in the first encounter. Healing Potions are good because they can keep you alive. I appreciate that’s an obvious thing to say but, more so with these rules.</p><p></p><p>Note prices in Kirkgate are +25% of PH but can be bartered down to regular PH prices, but at present- with the kobold bandits attacking merchant’s carts and stock not getting through, Kirkgate prices are +50% of PH prices, and can be bartered down to 125%.</p><p></p><p>If the PCs see off the kobold threat, then prices will drop- as indicated above.</p><p></p><p>Then, on we go…</p><p></p><p>An evening in The Old Gatehouse Inn, and after a bit of chatter about the village the PCs know that the best person to ask about the location of the kobold bandit’s lair is… Fionulla, the elven ranger type that both parties encountered (but briefly) in the Inn on their last visit.</p><p></p><p>Note, Fionulla fled the party in the previous encounter- she seemed upset, Sadie (Genocide Squad) followed her out of Kirkgate and into the nearby woods. The Genocide Squad have their suspicions about Fionulla. Psylk’s Cutters pretty much ignored her.</p><p></p><p>So, Fionulla is back in the Inn tonight.</p><p></p><p>The adventurers ask questions of the ranger, who apologizes for her previous behavior, and… it’s obvious however that Fionulla is suspicious of the PCs, and so they have to spend some time convincing the elven ranger of their story.</p><p></p><p>They are searching for their missing friend- the Fat Pidgin, Dicky Bird.</p><p></p><p>But then one of the adventurers (in both groups) mentions the magic word- Maggie (Genocide Squad) and Psylk (Psylk’s Cutters). The magic word is ‘cult’, and now Fionulla is onside- “meet me at midnight, in the cemetery- the Church of Chauntea, I will tell all that I know. Until then, keep what you know a secret- we will talk later.”</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]376455[/ATTACH]<strong>The Church of Chauntea, there's no map- or any other pictures, it’s just a meeting.</strong></p><p></p><p>And then later, at midnight in the cemetery, Fionulla explains further-</p><p></p><p>"I am a ranger, and by birth a resident of the forest- I am not a resident of Kirkgate, although I try to help the people here. They are good folk."</p><p></p><p>"I was tasked by my people- I am a wood elf, to keep the lands hereabouts, and the creatures that dwell here, safe and well, to see that the balance is maintained."</p><p></p><p>"But I have failed- there is a cult of some sort at work in this place, whisper it- but perhaps even in this village. I am not certain, but... I have my suspicions.</p><p></p><p>"The cultists- a trio of little folk, they lead a band of hired thugs; they lair somewhere to the east. They travel away, and often- to nearby towns, to recruit- I think, they're numbers are growing."</p><p></p><p>"I was wary of you, when you first arrived- it seemed to me that you were friends with one of the little folk, perhaps he too was a cultist. At least, that's what I thought- but I have heard that you have roused the villagers to action against the kobolds."</p><p></p><p>"That's a good start."</p><p></p><p>"But that's not the worry, the cultists have been kidnapping folk, travellers on the roads, locals from outlying farms- the dirty work divided between the cultists themselves and a tribe of kobolds that lairs a little to the north."</p><p></p><p>"That's right, I know where the kobolds lair."</p><p></p><p>"I have my reasons for hating these foul little beasts- I wish to make them pay, the cultists and the kobolds- both."</p><p></p><p>"My reason for hating these evildoers... I cannot say, or else I can say, but only when we get to a cut-scene later on... if you/I survive."</p><p></p><p>"I will show you the way to the kobold's lair, the cave they live in is fed by a stream- it is difficult to navigate in places but- it's a secret way into the lair."</p><p></p><p>"Once inside we slaughter them, save the ones that may have information- I have a... friend, he was... taken- I need to find him before... before... it's too late. I suspect the worse... I fear that our enemies are cruel and terrible, they kidnap and kill without regard."</p><p></p><p>"I... I have nothing to offer, except my service- and my life. Will you help me?"</p><p></p><p>"We had best plan to arrive at the lair in the daylight hours, the kobolds are mainly nocturnal- they send few patrols out, if any, during the day. We can get to the lair without being spotted ahead of time."</p><p></p><p>"I have only been through the stream once, so I do not know the layout of the lair. You will not be able to carry a torch through the stream- it is too low in places."</p><p></p><p>"Although, once inside- those of you not blessed with darkvision will (perhaps) need to carry a light. Don't worry overly about warning the kobolds with your light- it is my intention to slaughter all of them and rescue any prisoners that they keep."</p><p></p><p>"When do we leave- it is an easy journey but four hours of walking to get there?"</p><p></p><p>Oh, and make sure you have all of your stuff together because this is your first dungeon- don't leave Kirkgate without it, whatever 'it' is. This bit from the kindly DM.</p><p></p><p>Or else that’s the copy and paste from the game.</p><p></p><p>The adventurers obviously put Fionulla right about the cultists- the elf was talking about Hagrid and his followers, well, they’re all dead (or fled) already.
