Just weird.</p><p></p><p><strong>Session 002: Thugg Warning. </strong></p><p><strong>Mission Time: 00:07 to 00:23.</strong></p><p></p><p>Here we go, and this is our first proper full length session, although we're only playing for three hours with two 5-10 minute breaks.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424565[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>The death icons (etc.) are back.</strong></p><p></p><p>The PCs choose the right door, and after three attempts manage to get it open. Thugg is on door opening duties, it's an Athletics check DC 11 to do so, he's +9 on Athletics, he got it on his third attempt. Thugg's dice are broken this evening.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424566[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Here we go.</strong></p><p></p><p>There's another door on the left, and beyond it DCI Bawg thinks he can hear snoring.</p><p></p><p>He can.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424567[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Thugg manages to open the door- he rolled a '3'.</strong></p><p></p><p>Another snoring hill giant, she's called Loopin.</p><p></p><p>Alas Thugg's noisy entry to the room (he rolled a '1', his third) wakes Loopin up. The hill giant starts screaming.</p><p></p><p>It all kicks off.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424568[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Thugg gets into it with his axe, while Bawg is using his psionic blade (or whatever it's called).</strong></p><p></p><p>Alas Loopin's initiative is something like a '4'.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424569[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>And then Yen arrives and keeps on stamping on the still prone Loopin's schnozzer until there's a halfling foot-sized depression in the middle of the hill giant's face and... Loopin is unmoving.</strong></p><p></p><p>Everybody at this point is liking the monk.</p><p></p><p>The fight is won. Loopin is dead, the PCs barrel into the room- search it as quickly as they can- there's a giant sized chest, with a giant's bag worth of treasure in it (including another couple of thousand copper pieces) and... on a high shelf accessed by Yen (he ran up the wall) some giant-sized jewelry.</p><p></p><p>Note, the PCs are still intent on taking every piece of treasure (or coin) that they find- or at least Thugg is, at this point he's toting maybe seven or eight thousand copper pieces (in sacks) along with everything else.</p><p></p><p>Then back on the sneak- with DCI Bawg taking the lead.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424570[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>This place is just massive.</strong></p><p></p><p>And just along the way another door and beyond it... more snoring, Bawg thinks.</p><p></p><p>This is easy, is the consensus.</p><p></p><p>Too easy?</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424571[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>A barracks/bed chamber with another sleeping hill giant. Thugg with his greataxe, Pinicarus with whatever weapon the puppet wields (update: Force Empowered Rend). Phreakalus flying around firing arrows, and DCI Bawg with his psionic blade.</p><p></p><p>Note, Thugg is raging- this will become important in just a moment.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424575[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Pongo is flailing, all the giants here have the additional powers- Beefy Slap and Throw Stuff.</strong></p><p></p><p>Then Yen arrives, running under the giant beds.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424576[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Freddo is dead.</strong></p><p></p><p>And then seconds later, thanks to an arrow to the head from Phreakalus- so is Pongo.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424577[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>But the raging Thugg has had enough, or else he's not had enough, the barbarian- shouting his war song as he goes expends every move, action, action surge and IP to get to the next door along and... roll well enough (at last) to open it first time.</strong></p><p></p><p>The rest of the PCs are, well- the word 'swearing' covers it, but in no way reflects their fury (and vehemence).</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424578[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Kids club. Hill giant kids in this instance- the same size (and stats) as orcs, which is why they look a lot like orcs on the screen.</strong></p><p></p><p>The kids start shouting at Thugg, but Thugg doesn't understand a word that's being said.</p><p></p><p>A couple of the young 'uns try to chin the half-orc.</p><p></p><p>Oh, and...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424579[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Help is on the way, maybe.</strong></p><p></p><p>There's a brief discussion about leaving Thugg to his playtime but, they're on a mission here. I think Thugg's rage ran out, maybe, so he pressed the button again.</strong></p><p></p><p>But these are orcs (hill giant kids) against 11th level PCs, no contest.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424581[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Several members of the kid's club attempt to flee from the slaughter.</strong></p><p></p><p>But like I said...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424582[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Like a hot knife/greataxe through butter.</strong></p><p></p><p>There's no threat here.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424583[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>This is well after the fight (or else a minute or two later) and Thugg's second rage has also ended- the barbarian had to chase after a fleeing orc (off-screen left) and then had nowhere to go to get to any other enemies.</strong></p><p></p><p>That's the game clock on the right, the PCs have been here for 20 minutes now.</p><p></p><p>They've been told that the DM will roll for a random encounter every thirty minutes (although if an alarm is sounded then this will change to every ten minutes). Chance of an encounter is 1 in 6, no encounter and the chance increases by one until an encounter is rolled- then resets to 1 in 6. So, after thirty minutes = 1 in 6, after an hour = 2 in 6, etc. until success.</p><p></p><p>The PCs take a minute to chat to Thugg about, well... the fact that this is a sneaky mission etc.</p><p></p><p>It's a funny thing watching and listening from the sidelines.</p><p></p><p>What happens is this.</p><p></p><p>The PCs take it in turns to in character remind Thugg of the mission parameters and the need atm to be stealthy and to remain undiscovered.</p><p></p><p>Between the above threats/cajolery et al Thugg has an entirely different conversation, he tells his comrades about the honour of battle, the righteousness of Bradlust, and... while these two (or even three) conversations are on similar lines and/or themes- in the great Venn diagram at no point do they overlap. There is no common ground, there is nothing in the middle- that occupies both sets.</p><p></p><p>It's funny to watch and listen to (from my perspective) but somehow the PCs believe that things have been resolved, a new understanding has been reached.</p><p></p><p>I'm less certain.</p><p></p><p>The PCs troop out into the hall, and... there's a shouting match coming from the next door over.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424584[/ATTACH]</p><p>Thugg, with help from DCI Bawg (the pair have developed a technique), manages to get the door open quietly, within are a trio of female juvenile hill giants (the ogre tokens- can you guess why) who are being harangued and shouted at by a much larger female hill giant.
