Time is getting on.</strong></p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424740[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Here's the trail of destruction so far.</strong></p><p></p><p>The PCs are moving quickly now, keep in mind their primary aim here is to find out who or what is behind the hill giant attacks- without this information the PCs will fail this task, and so they're trying not to let the giants know that they're here atm. Closing doors behind them.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424741[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>The next chamber is massive, and yet empty- it has crude trophies set on the east wall- bits and pieces of armour, the odd weapon- giant-sized or other, atop the fireplace a massive skull and some shiny stuff. On the western wall a display of emblazoned (mostly) shields. Victims, no doubt, of the hill giant chief- Nosnra.</strong></p><p></p><p>But there's very little in the way of treasure or info to be found here.</p><p></p><p>And so...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424742[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Into a well-appointed chamber, initially thought to be the chief's bedchamber. But then charging from beneath the bed comes...</strong></p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424743[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Comes a massive snarling bear (Stats as a Polar Bear with well above average hit points).</strong></p><p></p><p>DCI Bawg however doesn't do surprised, and so the massive ursine is critically wounded thanks to the rogue's psionic blade before it even gets to the party.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424744[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Moments later and the bear is dead.</strong></p><p></p><p>The chamber is thoroughly searched, during which it is discovered that this is more likely to be chief Nosnra's wife's chamber, Yen finds a big bag full of gems hidden under the mattress of the bed. A big big bag of gems.</p><p></p><p>Here's an updated trail of destruction.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424745[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>The PCs are getting through the steading.</strong></p><p></p><p>Oh, and the first roll for a random encounter has been and gone. No cigar for the DM. The chance of an encounter increases for the next roll (1-2 on a d6).</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424746[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Time is ticking on, we're 45 minutes into the mission.</strong></p><p></p><p>And yet another massive empty chamber to investigate.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424747[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>This one is definitely Chief Nosnra's room, and there's plenty of treasure here- although the most of it is coppers again. The PCs give this place a proper search- but there's nothing in the way of intel (certainly no papers/writing etc.).</strong></p><p></p><p>They're getting a little frustrated.</p><p></p><p>And Thugg hasn't killed anything for literally ages (over twenty minutes).</p><p></p><p>However it is at this point that Thugg has a brain wave- he's all out of encumbrance (and that's a lot) and so from this point onwards the PCs take to filling the giant-sized chest back in Matron's room with all of the copper pieces that they find.</p><p></p><p>To put that into context at the end of this session the chest has 21,228 copper pieces in it.</p><p></p><p>Just over 200gp! Wow!</p><p></p><p>The PCs go on, after dumping the coppers and shutting various doors, to here-</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424748[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>The PCs have come from the south, they know that the massive doors to the west there go into the main hall, which they are confident is full of giants. The doors to the north in the above image constantly rattle in the wind, and the area around them is sodden- water seeping under the great portals, these doors- they figure- lead into the yard. DCI Bawg thinks he can hear the wolves out there.</strong></p><p></p><p>Bawg can hear nothing beyond the doors to the west here, and so...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424749[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>This place is interesting, on the south wall is a massive map of the region, and after examination it becomes apparent that the map shows hill giant attacks that have already happened, and... future targets (most likely). Lots of folk take notes, and the place is searched.</strong></p><p></p><p>Bawg (initially) & then others, can hear thumping rumbling sounds coming through the southern wall- the other side of which- they correctly figure- is again- the great hall.</p><p></p><p>Eventually the odd sounds become a little more coherent.</p><p></p><p>"Agadoo! Agadoo! Agadoo!" etc.</p><p></p><p>Bawg determines that the giants on the other side of the wall are engaged in Karaoke, and that while the songs/tunes are different- the words are the same. Rather the word- singular, is the same- "Agadoo!"</p><p></p><p>And so the DM does a heart breaking rendition of Abba's 'Waterloo', only all words are replaced with the word "Agadoo!" It's easy, you try it.</p><p></p><p>I remember doing Lady in Red later on.</p><p></p><p>It was terrific.</p><p></p><p>However, save for the info on the wall/map, which is crudely done but still understandable, there's nothing else in the way of paperwork, or orders, or... the PCs at this point are coming around to the idea that they are going to have to extract the information they need from the head of chief Nosnra.</p><p></p><p>Phreakalus has a mind reading spell/ability and so this is a possibility, the point being the PCs are now of the opinion that they're not here looking for written info- i.e. orders from above.
