Thugg's new javelin, which is magical but as of yet unidentified- it looks nice though.</strong></p><p></p><p>Then, it's a foot race- the PCs are suddenly conscious this session that they need to get on.</p><p></p><p>And so...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424827[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>The PCs hot-foot it back to the start, the entrance chamber to the steading, you'll note the PCs have covered up the dead hill giants here (Terry & Git Face) with cloaks- like they're sleeping on the job. The middle double doors in the image above have the low rumble of giant voices beyond them- "Agadoo!" is ongoing, the Karaoke is still going strong in there, and so left door next.</strong></p><p></p><p>Bloody hell.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424828[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>That's a long corridor, and while the PCs are watching about halfway down the thoroughfare a pair of orcs carrying a massive platter full of food scoot from left to right, and back again. This in the well lit section of the corridor.</strong></p><p></p><p>The PCs figure the orcs are slaves/servants and the food is going from the kitchen into the main hall. the empties in the opposite direction.</p><p></p><p>The PCs open the west door here.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424829[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>More huge corridors, and the area is silent.</strong></p><p></p><p>To the south...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424830[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>A very well appointed room, but empty of enemies and the PCs are beyond searching now- it takes too long.</strong></p><p></p><p>And so...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424831[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>More doors get opened- one at a time and cautiously, initially. The worry is that's a lot of beds, and therefore a lot of hill giants.</strong></p><p></p><p>The arguing starts about now.</p><p></p><p>Thugg is running on empty, he hasn't killed anything for ages, and it's beginning show- he's for the home invasion, his vote is to get into the main hall now (while he still has lots of powers left) and there to unleash mayhem.</p><p></p><p>Alas none of the other PCs are on board with this idea, the corridor to the north in the above image runs to the kitchen, Bawg has been for a look and listen in this direction, the heat is intense beyond the door at the top of the corridor, and the sound of clanging, cooking and shouting et al is apparent.</p><p></p><p>The PCs are going to have to sneak past the kitchen in order to explore the rooms and chambers beyond. That's not going to happen.</p><p></p><p>And so we break for a good ten minute discussion/squabble.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424832[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Here's an updated trail of destruction.</strong></p><p></p><p>The squabbling continues.</p><p></p><p>Until somebody- possibly DCI Bawg, has a much better idea.</p><p></p><p>We get to here, and at full speed...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424833[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>It's an odd image- the very edge of the map in Fantasy Grounds, and the PCs are back outside of the steading, the plan is simply this- open the yard gate and release the wolves. Then, with them gone, the PCs can enter the top end of the steading.</strong></p><p></p><p>Clever.</p><p></p><p>It takes a while to get one of the massive yard doors open, mainly because there's a bar across the inside of the doors that's effectively keeping the doors shut. Yen has to climb over, wriggle down, and then slide the one ton length of tree/wood out of the way.</p><p></p><p>Note, at this point the DM makes a third random encounter check, unbeknown to the PCs, with a 3 in 6 chance of success, but... '4'. No encounter.</p><p></p><p>We get to here...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424834[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>And I've turned the fog and mist on. The yard contains many wolves- actually eight foot tall at the shoulder dire wolves. And so the PCs shout and wave briefly, and then clamber up the side of the steading and onto the roof.</strong></p><p></p><p>Half-a-dozen (at least) dire wolves come over to take a look.</p><p></p><p>Note- the two squares in the image above represent the footprint of George's house (in real life), he just wanted to point this out for a scale comparison.</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424835[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Over the next few minutes half-a-dozen dire wolves escape the compound. Piniccarus, at this point, has been switched off- he's just a pile of wood and strings on the floor, an inactive puppet. The rest of the PCs are on the ceiling of the steading- a good twenty five feet up.</strong></p><p></p><p>However...</p><p></p><p>Not all of the dire wolves are as keen to escape, a pair of the massive beasts take to worrying Piniccarus, and/or else barking and snarling at the PCs up on the roof. Therefore...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424836[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Yen and the Thugg leap down and (very briefly) get into action. Both dire wolves are dead in seconds. Yen is the bomb again.</strong></p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424837[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>The PCs then climb around the edge of the roof of the building isolated in the top right corner of the yard.</strong></p><p></p><p>And around the corner and...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424838[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>More dire wolves, Yen drops down and engages with the beasts. Note the monk has not taken a single hit so far.</strong></p><p></p><p>Just a moment more in praise of Yen, the monk is everywhere- running up, down and along vertical walls, and through the legs of giants and dire wolves alike; he makes two attacks with his sword or staff, and then (often) three more attacks with his martial arts, he stuns creatures, knocks them down or else... He's a bloody nightmare and AC 23 or so.</p><p></p><p>You'll note we've also made Yen's token very small on the screen, this simply because, Yen is very small- just three feet high and weighing in at only 40lbs.</p><p></p><p>Oh, and Yen never rolls a '1', he's a halfling- so, there's a chance- it could happen if he effectively rolls two '1's in a row, because every time a '1' pops up Fantasy Grounds automatically re-rolls it. The last dire wolf dies.</p><p></p><p>And the PCs know where they're heading next.</p><p></p><p>Over to the door and...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424842[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Just a peak inside, and... there's a very large, and well turned out (he's combed his hair, and possibly washed) hill giant holding court, and with a hareem of lady hill giant servants enrapt.</strong></p><p></p><p>"An' den I pick summats big up, summats big an right 'eavy, but I didn't sweat nor nothing cos I'm right strong!"</p><p></p><p>He's a hill giant Cassanova.</p><p></p><p>Here he is in all of his glory...</p><p></p><p>[ATTACH=full]424843[/ATTACH]</p><p><strong>Catpin Doggins!
