Once they are prone to conspiracy theories it seems like a drug like fix, many of these followers swallow large amounts of nonsense in a serial fashion. The sense of being "in the know" and special combined with a need for everything to be under somebody's control (even if it is a big bad) makes them feel more secure than the idea of things just happening will he nill he.</blockquote>
