At the end of the day it really just comes down to how the poster writes their post. If you make a thread that says "Hey folks, I made a Ghostbusters game using the 5E rules, here's the rules and changes that I made..." then you're going to see much fewer people asking in thread "Why didn't you just play the Ghostbusters RPG or InSpectres?" Because the post will probably make it very clear why the poster did what they did and those questions will not be necessary. But if you make a post here saying "I'm thinking about using the 5E rules to run a Ghostbusters-type of game... what kind of things do you think I need to add to make that possible...?" Then absolutely you will and probably should expect to receive advice that says "You might as well just use the Ghostbusters or InSpectres RPGs because they're already set up to give you what you want." Does that kind of post seemingly treat you like you're an idiot, as though the idea had never occured to you before that there would be other games that duplicate what you're trying to do? Yep. But guess what? Since this is a D&D messageboard... we all see plenty of threads from people talking about how they play nothing but D&D... so the idea that they might not actually KNOW that there are Ghostbuster-like games out there is distinctly possible. And since you're asking for help... you obviously aren't comfortable with your own game design skills to create it how you want it to go, and thus trying to hammer 5E into what you want has a better chance of not working out then using the system designed to do exactly what you're looking for.
