It's amazing the stuff people make up in their heads. I've been consistently comparing this to videogames, and talking about YouTube, but you're busy fantasizing about lusty "IG e-thots". I mean, maybe that's where your mind is at bro, but it's not what I was talking about. So that's on you mate. The fact is, most* D&D YouTube (and other) influencers are not particularly critically minded - and they're particularly uncritical of official WotC D&D products, which, even very weak (c.f. Spelljammer) tend to be received with open arms. These aren't people with tremendous critical faculties who are interested in really grinding out what's wrong with and what's right with products. They're absolutely keen on "gushing" as you put it, about how wonderful WotC products are though, especially as they'll gain popularity because of their access, as people watch their content to see this new 3D VTT in action and hear about it. LOL I don't think it's an offhand remark when they specifically talk about doing that before opening to a larger pool of testers. This something they're planning to do, not an "offhand remark". As for "Well they're doing real testing too!", I'm sure they are! My point is very simple, no matter how you try to complicate it or involve the delights of "IG e-thots", that being that by-and-large influencers aren't playtesters or critics, they're publicity-generators. * = There are exceptions, and we've seen that over the few months with the whole OGL crisis. However, as far as I'm aware, several of those exceptions were not invited to the big influencer meet-up recently. I presume Ginny Di was at least, and I'd trust her to be somewhat critical of any flaws the 3D VTT has, particularly anything gross re: monetization, she pressed ol' Kyle kinda hard on that last she spoke to him.
