Common actually comes from celestial and was developed during a mytho-historical war where angels helped mortals fight demons, and that origin is why it’s very easy to learn common. Gnomish is called that because it originates from the old Gnomish kingdoms, not because all gnomes speak it or only gnomes speak it, and it represents a dozen major branches with hundreds of dialects. But renaming it something that feels like a word a gnome would invent, instead, and noting that cultures that were founded by gnomes or are populated primary by gnomes speak a dialect of it, wouldn’t hurt anyone.</blockquote>
