Let's imagine an aspirant to writer starts her own webnovel. Then to promote herself she creates content in D&D-Beyond based in the novel. This is adapted into a comic, and later to an animated serie (it wouldn't be the first time). Who would be the owner of the IP? Sorry if I am not using the right words to explain me. I can understand WotC worry about to send the message "BIPoC are wellcome in the game". That is the spirit of the game, about we forget our differences and we work together as a team to reach a goal. I mean the right strategy should be creating good vibes, giving good feeling. The key is creating good characters and good stories. Let's remember those family sitcoms loved by all the audences: the Bill Cosby's show, Family Matters, the fresh prince of Bel-air, Sister Sister... or those Disney productions without Caucasian characters: Encanto, the Jungle Book, Mulan, Aladin, the Lion King, the emperor's new groove.. or let's think about how Western population learnt to love Japanese culture thanks manga and anime. Even someone started to learn Japanese languange. No-Western cultures should be showed in D&D and it wouldn't be cultural apropiation but using D&D as a tool or a bait to create interest into other cultures, and like this we would be fighting against the xenophobia. * What a 3PP creates content for the VTT based in tribal-punk look? You know, mixing Conan the barbarian(Hirboria age and Mad Max: the road warrior. * I had to await several years until can buy the translated version. Then for my own point of view the "update" version arrives too soon, and I don't agree about all the changes.
