That would still be an erasing of an identity if they just leave them off. They need to address this as some form of identity all of it's own, because that it was being mixed is. Cher isn't my spokeswoman - though she was not calling for us to be removed, but to not be attacked or denied our existence. Erasing us or calling our existence a slur doesn't make us go away in the real world, and it surely won't make us want to engage with their brand in the fictional. Some form of unique ancestry or background should be there for this. Pathfinder has the ideal solution - you can take abilities from both sides of your heritage. Which is really how that works in the real world too. I guess I lost track of what direction D&D was going in. I had thought they were going towards diversity, not hard tacking towards racial purity. And we aren't always 'mongrels' or mixings of war. Latin America is essentially majority mixed people. Mestizo, Mulatto, etc. As California nearly is as well where Cher and I both come from... I'll bring up Pathfinder again to note that it mentions that most of the mixed people are the result of multiple generations of being together, and like Mestizo people of the real world often have both parents already mixed. They saw which kind of player the concept was 'carving out a fantasy space for' and met us in their description, rather than erased us. I do like the idea of expanding out to mixed of various ancestries. But it should be addressed in the same page space that used to have half-elf and half-orc, and made uniquely something. WotC is going to have to answer for that quote from the summit. If only to saw it's flat out wrong. But if it's right, they need to really explain this and not just delete us. On the idea of a 'half-this' or 'half that' being negative. That stopped being bad even before I was born in the 70s. It's like objecting to "Barbarian" because that was a derogatory term for foreigner in Latin during Roman times... Or "Yankee Doodle" which was a British slur for 'Colonial rebels' during the revolution... Slightly too late to object to those now that they're no longer slurs...
