Yeah, perhaps. Either way, I personally expected it to last a little longer (most of the Store Exclusive covers haven't been as "rare" lately as they used to be) and I figured WotC would set the print run quite high. Now, I think they DID, but the demand, from what I'm hearing, has been greater than what everyone expected. We all thought that it would do well, but there's enough online backlash and apathy, that it must have influenced us all at least a little bit, to order, stock, and print somewhat conservatively - in spite of all of those things being large - we STILL all undershot it, and I expect that I might go next week with no stock at all on the book, (I'm not out yet, but it's looking dire) before my distributor gets more, and then they will "only" be regular covers going forward. It's funny, from my perspective - it started a little slow (as if "most" customers didn't understand that us FLGSes get it early) but sales picked up over the two weeks, and we're almost out now. And it is the "REAL" release date TODAY! AND our distributor is out (of BOTH COVERS) and doesn't expect to get more for two weeks. So, I think we can call it a success. Beyond the industry's already-pretty-high expectations. We'll see if it lasts (or grows like 2014 did), but it's doing very very well so far.
