D&D fans in the UK and beyond: Experience D&D with an event like you’ve never seen before!* Announcing the first-ever D&D Experience UK--a four-day event dedicated to the world’s greatest roleplaying game, its fans, and the launch of the 4th edition of Dungeons & Dragons! What is D&D Experience? D&D Experience is an annual event held by Wizards of the Coast in the US, generally in January or February, focused on getting D&D players together with one another and enjoying a long weekend of RPG adventuring. (For many years it was called “Winter Fantasy.”) This year, we’re bringing D&D XP, as it’s often called, to the UK with our own special D&D-focused activities at Gen Con UK. Although this particular occasion is linked to the launch of 4th edition this year, we hope to make it an annual event going forward. Whether you're a longtime D&D diehard or a casual fan--a hardcore dungeon-door kicker-in or a character-focused storyteller--new to roleplaying or a veteran gamer--we have something cool for you! Special Guests and Activities The first-ever D&D XP UK features two special guests: Rich Baker and Wayne Reynolds. Rich Baker joins us straight from WotC’s D&D design team. Rich has been a D&D designer for WotC (and before that TSR) since 1991, during which time he’s written or contributed to more than 70 game products, including Axis & Allies Miniatures as well as the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons. Additionally, he’s the author of eight Forgotten Realms novels, including Swordmage, the New York Times bestseller Condemnation, and the highly acclaimed The Last Mythal trilogy. Rich was one of the key designers on 4th edition, from the initial concept phase through to extensive design work on the Player’s Handbook and Dungeon Masters Guide. He also led the Forgotten Realms 4E revision team. Rich will be at D&D XP UK all four days, giving seminars, doing signings, and kicking off the UK launch of the new Living Forgotten Realms RPGA campaign. Between scheduled events, Rich will be hanging out and maybe getting into a game or two. Wayne Reynolds has been one of the most influential artists in the recent history of D&D. His dynamic, exciting artwork can be found in numerous D&D products released over the past five years or so—most spectacularly, on the cover of every single Eberron title released since the campaign setting was launched in 2004. More recently, Wayne produced the cover art for the three core rulebooks of 4th edition: the Player’s Handbook, the Dungeon Master’s Guide, and the Monster Manual. Wayne started his career as a sign writer and computer games concept artist before striking out as a freelance illustrator. His earliest commissions were with Chaosium and Iron Crown Enterprises. He has since worked with 200AD Comics, Games Workshop, Osprey Publishing, Green Ronin, Reaper Miniatures, and Paizo Publishing in addition to Wizards of the Coast (on Magic: the Gathering as well as D&D). Wayne will be at D&D XP UK Saturday and Sunday, doing signings, showing some of his original artwork, and maybe getting in a game or two as well! Gaming Events D&D XP UK will feature gaming events for every D&D fan—headlined by the UK launch of the all-new Living Forgotten Realms RPGA campaign. In addition to LFR events, there will be core (non-LFR adventures), open gaming, a delve, a demonstration of the new digital gaming table, seminars, a live dungeon, and a medieval village dungeon crawl. D&D players of all stripes will have no trouble immersing themselves in their favourite game for four solid days. If you're in the UK (or care to swing by for a few days), we hope to see you there! * Unless you've been to DDXP in the US, of course. In which case you know just how cool this will be!
