I couldn't find an appropriate prefix for this post, because I will eventually put many different creations here. Here's my plan: D&D is awesome, but what would happen when they discover how to create modern-like technology? Or better yet...what happens when they go beyond what we know as "modern?" You get...D&D Future! I'm guessing many things like this have already been doen, but I haven't seen them, and I want to give it a shot anyway! I would really appreciate any input, whether it be compliments, criticisms, additions, or revisions. You can even use these in your own game if you want to help me playtest it! So, I'll start at square one. Obviously, since this is in the future, and there is technology, there is one new skill (as of now): Technology, which uses Intelligence. It functions just like other knowledge skills, and even as a monster knowledge skill (for robots, cyborgs, etc.). Classes that have Technology in their class skills list: * Fighter * Ranger * Rogue Square two: Robots. Sure, they can be programmed and stuff. But! The incredibly progressive beings of the D&D world have developed a process to not make computer chips, but to grow them, making each one unique, even if they are formed into a general programming. This way, sentient robots are created. They can be programmed to do certain things in certain situations or to have certian personality traits, but because of the randomness of this process, they also have their own personality quirks and such. This makes them a playable PC race! ROBOT, HUMANOID Within a brain made in a factory, there exists the spark of a soul. RACIAL TRAITS Average Height: 5' 10'' - 6' 0'' Average Weight: 230 - 250 lb. Ability Scores: +2 Constitution, +2 Intelligence Size: Small or Medium Speed: 6 squares Vision: Darkvision Languages: Common, Computer, choice of one other Skill Bonuses: +2 Perception, +2 Technology Electrical Construct: You have the electrical construct keyword. As an electrical construct, you have the following traits: * You gain a +2 bonus to saving throws against ongoing damage. * You can't eat, drink, or breathe, and are immune to any effect that requires you to do any of those. * You can't sleep. Instead, you have a battery that has 18 hours of power. When your power runs out, you become unconscious. To recharge your battery, you need to spend 4 hours in an extended rest plugged into an electrical outlet or other source of electrical power. You can remain fully alert while your battery is charging. The battery can also be replaced. * When you roll a death saving throw, you can take the better of your die roll or 10 as the result. You still die at your negative hit point total. * You can not be revived from death by the Raise Dead ritual. Instead, you can be repaired by a character using the Technology skill. * You have vulnerable 5 + one-half your level fire, vulnerable 5 + one-half your level lightning, vulnerable 5 + one-half your level acid, and resist 5 + one-half your level untyped, and you are immune to sleep, poison, and disease. Metal Body: You can not wear armor. Instead, you have a +3 armor bonus to AC and a +1 shield bonus to AC and Reflex. You still add the higher of your Dexterity or Intelligence modifier to AC and Reflex. Upgrade: At level 1 and at every level that you normally get to choose a feat, you may choose two feats as long as one of them has the robot prerequisite. One of my main concerns is that the robot is too good. I'd love to hear what everybody thinks!
