Hey, that's pretty cool. As for me, I played DnD before I played DnD. In 1992, I had a relativley useless computer with internet access. I started Role-Playing in chatroom RPGs as Magelord29, I believe on some variation of AOL. Keep in mind, I was in first or second grade at this time, and had little if any knowledge of what I was doing. From there, I drifted into MUD gaming. It charged 1.99 per hour, and it really wasn't worth my confussion, but I tried with a great deal of difficulty to read the hundreds of pages of text that was displayed over the course of an hour of gaming. The stat system and mechanics were all, of course, written for a DnD player, not a seven year old. After a few solid rounds of being defeated, I had to surrender this habit up, as it ate time and money that just wasn't worth it at the time. It wasn't until Winter of 1999 that I re-discovered this wonderful game in the form of a few first edition books belonging to my good friend Jordan. We pulled them out, and oddly enough I was able to recall most of the mechanics involved in the game. It didn't take too horribly long before I became the local Guru of sorts... having visited at least 15 different gaming groups to learn different perspectives and styles of playing from. Then I discovered Enworld, and my own personal perspective and style improved immensely. Did I ever say this? I think not... Thank you Eric Noah, for improving my ability to percieve and play in a unique and entertaining way. :D
